Opening

The meeting convened at 7:15 PM at the Pool House. The meeting was chaired by the Association Secretary, Paul Behrends. Board Members present included: Bill Cable, Kurt Karsten, Grahame Rice and Paul Behrends. The attendees failed to meet the quorum requirements for formal Board actions. Consequently, no formal actions were taken at the meeting. The status of various Pool Association efforts was reviewed.

Old Business:

No old business was discussed.

New Business:

Season Opening – Preparations for the season opening were discussed. Items addressed included:

• Preparations for the opening day party appear to be under control. The party is scheduled for Saturday, 29 May 2004, from 6PM to 10PM . Kurt Karsten volunteered to prepare and distribute a flier announcing the party. It was noted that Jeff Bach was obtaining supplies and entertainment for the event.
• Pool Gate Keepers. Paul Behrends noted that Najeda Patolo has been hired to manage the pool gate keepers for the season. She has prepared a work schedule for the gate keepers for the full summer season.
• It was noted that the status of the membership data in the gate keeper’s computer is uncertain. Paul Behrends will research the issue and ensure that current data is installed on the PC.

Pool House Rental Issues – Kurt Karsten noted that he will be reviewing the rental contract used for Pool Facility rentals to ensure that it properly addresses:

• Clarification of lifeguard requirements for activities held while the pool is exposed (filled and accessible).
• BRPA liability in the event that Pool House conditions cause the renter to cancel the event. The liability should extend only as far as the pool rental fees already paid. Incidental and consequential added costs should not be a responsibility of the BRPA.
• The late evening noise abatement requirements (county “quiet time”) are addressed.
• Pool House rental for parties must be on an “as-is” basis

Board Officers – Absent A Quorum, The Board Was Unable To Take Formal Action On The Proposed Slate Of Board Officers For The Coming Year. The Slate Includes:

• President – Paul Behrends
• Vice President – Jeff Bach
• Secretary – Bill Cable
• Treasurer – Grahame Rice

The board will conduct a vote by email to confirm these volunteers in their new positions.

• Meetings – Bay Ridge Pool Association meetings scheduled for the month of April 2004 include:
• 10 May 2004 – 7:00 PM – General meeting at the Pool House.
• 29 June 2004 – 7:00 PM – Board meeting at the Pool House.
• Adjournment – The meeting adjourned at 8:05PM .
